Community and social service workers administer and implement a variety of social assistance programs and community services, and assist clients to deal with personal and social problems. They are employed by social service and government agencies, mental health agencies, group homes, school boards, correctional facilities and other establishments. Most community and social service workers work Monday through Friday, with standard working hours. They may occasionally work evenings and weekends to meet with clients, attend community meetings and handle emergencies. Workers spend most of their time in an office or residential facility, but may also travel locally to visit clients or meet with service providers. The working environment for community and social service workers may vary. Many spend part of their time in an office or in a group residential facility, while the rest of their time may be spent in the field visiting clients, taking them on trips or meeting with people who provide other services to clients.

This accredition serves as notice to students that our program meets the core competencies which both organizations require addiction counselors to have met. Students are enrolled as Student Members in the CPCA during the program.
